A practicing attorney in Fall River since 1981, Steve moved his law office to the J. Marshall Associates building in 2007. Steve holds Series 6 and Series 63 securities licenses sponsored by Investors Capital Corporation, allowing him to act as a registered representative for his clients with JMA. He received his Bachelor’s Degree, cum laude, from Bates College and his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from Boston College School of Law. 

Steve has concentrated in the legal fields of estate, estate tax and asset protection planning; corporate and business administration and planning; long term care, elder law and real estate. He has counseled and drafted estate plans and asset protection documents for numerous individual clients developing benefit and succession plans for businesses. This knowledge and experience leaves Steve uniquely able to combine clients’ legal planning concerns with their financial planning concerns. Steve is believed to be the only licensed and practicing attorney in the area who is also a licensed registered financial representative, providing JMA clients a dually licensed and qualified professional. 

A lifelong resident of the greater Fall River area, Steve has been active in both professional life and community service. He is past President of both the Bristol County and Fall River Bar Associations, and was a six-year member of the Board of Bar Overseers District Five Disciplinary Committee. He helped implement and served as Coordinator of the Fall River District Court Small Claims/Civil Mediation program, worked as a Coordinator of Bristol Elder Legal Services, was Corporation Counsel for the City of Fall River, and an Instructor of Law at both UMass-Dartmouth and Southern Mass.-R.I. (now Southern New England) School of Law. Additionally, he has served as a Commissioner of the Fall River Housing Authority, on the Board of Directors of the Greater Fall River Development Corporation and the Chamber of Commerce, as a member of the Holy Name School Advisory Council, and as a coach for the American Little League, Fall River Youth Soccer League and the Fall River PAL Girls Software League.

Steve resides in Fall River and is the proud father of three daughters and one son.
